Q: "Where can I buy one of these?"
A: You can buy one by writing a request via email. Please include the following information:
1. What color(s) you desire
2. What garment (if you have one picked out already) you desire the display to be mounted to
3. Any custom artwork you want to be shown on the display
Q: "How much does a custom job cost?"
A: This is a common question answered with a few points to consider: How large do you wish your display area to be? What timeframe do you need it in? What additional functionality do you require (DMX, SD cards, Audio reactivity)? What garment will your display be mounted to?
Q: "How much does a typical display cost?"
A: The price can vary widely depending on the size and resolution of the display. Please feel free to contact us (info [at] erogear.com) for a quote.
Q: "Can I upload my own patterns?"
A: Absolutely! We provide a software package that takes still images and exports them into a proprietary format for use with EroGear displays. Video content is uploaded by first exporting a video file then running it through our software.
Q: "What platforms does your software run on?"
A: Currently we support Windows. We have plans to support as many operating systems as possible in the future. Additionally, firmware updates will hopefully add realtime MPEG decoding, eliminating the need for OS-specific software.
Q: "How long does it take to make one?"
A: This depends on the display dimensions and type of garment used. A recreation of our white-on-black jacket would take approximately 1 week. This can vary, but we will notify you of any schedule changes immediately.
Q: "How long do the batteries last?"
A: We can supply you with batteries of any capacity. We currently use NiMH batteries that yield approximately 2 hours of use with a rather hungry video pattern. Video content with more pixels at high brightness will eat up juice more quickly. Hell, we can suit you up with a backpack that will last days if you don't mind crushed vertebrae.
Q: "Can I download pre-packaged content from your website?"
A: We are working to create a library of interesting video content for everyone to use in the future.
Q: "When are you coming out with a full color version?"
A: As soon as possible. We have designs in the pipeline for supporting color and will release them as soon as we can get them fabricated and tested properly.
Q: "What colors do you offer?"
A: We can build displays of just about any color including: yellow, green, red, blue, white, orange and many times colors in between.
Q: "Does it do text?"
A: Text can be shown on EroGear displays in several ways. First, you can open up the controller console and input your own text string which will show up like a traditional scrolling stock-ticker. Second, you can pre-render text using your favorite video rendering program (we like Apple Motion 3 and Adobe After Effects) and run this content just like any other video.
Q: "How bright are EroGear displays?"
A: Absurdly. There is a brightness control on the controller to adjust this down if you're in a darkened club environment and don't want to blind people. Otherwise you can keep it cranked up for daylight viewing.
